TROOP #87 NEWS - DECEMBER '12
A Hail and Farewell this month
Steve Nagle started as a Boy Scout and has remained active with the program ever since. In his career he has served as District Executive and Scout Master, and has raised both of his sons to the rank of Eagle Scout and mentored countless other Boy Scouts and adult leaders alike. He has a number of other commitments and has decided to step down as Scout Master for the upcoming year, but we are glad that he is planning to stay active with the troop in the role of Assistant Scoutmaster. Steve is noted for his caring and his sense of fun and adventure, and our troop has grown in many ways under his leadership. At Steve's invitation, and by vote of the Troop Committee, Bob Byland will be coming out of "retirement" to lead the troop in 2013. For those who may not know, Bob served as the Troop 87 Scoutmaster for 19 years prior to this, ending about 6 years ago when he wished to pursue other interests. He has remained active with the District and the Troop throughout this time, generously donating his time and expertise, and his property for our annual "Waterworld" events. He has been described as a visionary leader, and at his request we will convene a meeting here at the Church on Wednesday, December 5th at 7PM, for parents of new or prospective scouts to get to know Bob, his view of scouting, and discuss plans and expectations for the upcoming year. All are welcome.
