Welcome!
Our worship services are held each Sunday at 10:30 AM. Please feel free to visit us!

As a community of faith at the First Presbyterian Church of Big Flats, we struggle to help each other to grow in our journey and thus prepare ourselves to bring Christ into the world in a personal and special way. Our prayer is that wholesome relationships will be built amongst ourselves and our neighbors.

Our Church
The First Presbyterian Church of Big Flats was organized September 27, 1827. The sanctuary was built in 1829. It is believed to be the oldest continuously occupied Church building in Chemung County.

Major renovation of the sanctuary in 1973 included replacing the exterior porch with a ground level entrance with an interior handicap ramp. New pews are movable and for most services we enjoy "church in the round", which adds immeasurably to the warm and caring atmosphere.

Our greatest strength is our family atmosphere which includes people from all walks of life, ages, family situations, and unique personalities. When you come to our church you feel a warm welcome without feeling pressured.

Presbyterians... As We Believe, So We Do
In our worship, which follows the Reformed tradition, we join together as a community to express our praise through word and song, to study God's voice. We realize that each one of us is still learning how to be the person God calls us to be; and we celebrate the fact that we can share in the process with one another.

If you would like more information on Presbyterianism in general, a good source of information is the "Who we are" page on the PC(USA) site.

Once again, welcome!
